DPC is not insurance.

Our goal is to provide preventive medicine. We are happy to help patients determine what is wrong and how to treat it. Why not work with someone who has the ability to work with you to minimize your risk of serious illness? If and when sickness or injury occurs, you will have access to a professional who knows you and may help you avoid the expense of the Urgent Care Clinic or Emergency Department and see you the same day. One visit to the Urgent Care or Emergency Department can cost as much as  your membership with us for the entire year.

The simple answer is, no, you do not need insurance to see Dr. McFarlane-Parrott. The more complex answer is an individual decision.

• For those without insurance. 
• You are welcome here! This is the perfect place for you to receive preventive and health maintenance care. 
• We would recommend that all of our patients have some form of health coverage for large unpredictable expenses such as hospitalizations and accidents.

• For those with insurance
• Your insurance does not cover our membership fee, medications we dispense, procedures we perform or lab tests we run in our clinic. All of these are provided at a deeply reduced cost.
• Your insurance will cover specialized labs we send to another facility, specialist consultations, hospitalization, emergency room visits, surgeries, radiology tests and other services as covered by your insurance.

• We will work with you and your situation to provide options that will work for you. We offer certain labs at our cost plus a small administrative fee. If you have insurance, most of these services can be obtained through your insurance. If you do not have insurance we continually work to find testing and specialty providers who will accept direct payment. 

Many Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) will pay for our services.  The services provided are considered “covered medical expenses” according to IRS regulations.  However, we recommend that you check with your employer and accountant for verification.

The hospital’s medical providers will assume care for you and bill your insurance. Dr. McFarlane-Parrott does not provide in-hospital care but will work to coordinate your care on discharge to ensure the continuity of your treatment plan. This can include follow-up visits in person, video conference or phone call to review your discharge plan. Home visits by Dr. McFarlane-Parrott are also an option for a fee.

Your health records here are yours. Unless services or pharmaceuticals are billed through your insurance or you request the disclosure of information, none of your medical information will be disclosed.  Your permission will always be obtained prior to the sharing of your information.

You are welcome here! You will be able to use your Medicare insurance for hospitalizations, labs, specialist visits, pharmacy-dispensed medications, etc. Your membership fee, services provided by our practice, and medications dispensed by our practice cannot be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement.

If a membership is discontinued by choice or through lack of payment the member can contact us to discuss the possibility of re-enrollment. There is a re-enrollment fee required to rejoin our practice.
